The above mentioned site gives information about Wilderness Venture programs which have been in the business since 1973.In every summer, it organizes summer programs for youths of 13 and 20 years of age. It organizes a variety of carefully designed, challenging, safe and supportive adventurous programs in that period.
Its adventures programs are not like tours, but rather a carefully and well heeded plan in a wide range of wilderness and outdoor environments that are located in different types of places. In its program, participants spend nearly entire summer living in the outdoor. The routes and campsites are planned in a manner that it makes participants see historic places, different types of cultures and scenic beauty.
Its program ranges from 14 days to 6 weeks. The participants engage themselves in various types of activities like backpacking, river rafting, mountaineering, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, surfing and mountain biking. The routs of the journey lead them to a wide range wilderness area of national parks and forests in North America and other countries as well.

My son was not at all confident of himself before few years so I sent him to this outdoor adventure travel program during his summer vacation. when he returned home he has developed self confident and courage as this program offered him wilderness and outdoor adventurous activity which changes him completely.

I would NOT recommend this tour! My 14-year-old son just returned from a Costa Rica Trip with Wilderness Ventures with the exception of liking the teens on the tour and river rafting and ziplining once, the rest of the tour was awful! Hiking and backpacking to see nothing in particular, kayaking for 5 hours a day 2 days in a row, tenting most of the time, horrible food (like powdered foods and canned chicken. If that isn't enough, he came home covered in scabs from bug bites. He wasn't allowed to call or email me and there weren't any pictures for us to see during their 21 day excursion. It was very expensive too so that's not the reason it functioned in such a low budget way. By the way, according to my son, most of the teens told the tour leaders that they hated the trip.

Please do not ever send your child on Wilderness Ventures trip. My boyfriend and I have guided for their company. There guides are not properly trained and we have witnessed first hand their poor handling of emergency situations. I saw a girl take a fall onto her head and my co-guide rubbed and cuddled her instead of keeping her head and neck in a neutral position until we could return with emergency responders. The constant swaying back and forth could have further injured the young woman. Thankfull she left our trip and returned home with only minor injuries. Wilderness Venture's money-saving, hands-off approach to medical training and common sense camp safety have already lead to the death of one child and countless more injuries. Please protect your children and DO NOT allow the untrained guided of Wilderness Ventures to take your child into the back country.
