Life Lines is a “troubled teen treatment center” and one you should make every effort to avoid. The staff have 0 qualification to diagnose issues and participate in treatment other than graduation of the program themselves as minors. We sent our son into Life Line and after 105 days and $10,000 he had never even met with his “Clinical” (the only person there with a degree) to set up a course of treatment and the bad news just kept on coming. I was horrified to find out also that the only exercise that the children were given was an hour a day of a Richard Simmons tape. There were a hand full of host homes where he was sleeping on a hard wood floor with a sheet and a pillow. When we took our son out of the program we took him to the desist when he complained of jaw pain the next day and we were told that 2 of his wisdom teeth were impacted. When I asked him why he did not say anything before I made yet another horrifying discovery. He had told the staff on numerous accessions that he was in a great deal in pain and was dismissed every time without anyone even looking at him to see if it was serious. He did make several friends in the program that I talked to and had confirm the things I had heard. Bottom line is Life Line fails to deliver a quality of care that is consistent with its cost. You pay a lot of money and receive an uneducated staff, completely absent administrators, and an overall unbeneficial and horrible experience for your child. The incredible amount of money you pay is Not going to the inmates, it seems to flow right out the door into Jim Smith and Vern Utley’s pockets. There are good programs out there PLEASE take the time to find one for your kid… Life Line is not it.

Excellent program - saved our family. I'm suprised by the other review saying Jim Smith and Vern Utley are taking all the money, because there is no one working there by those names - maybe an old review from a long time ago. My daughter saw the psychiatrist the day after she arrived and we met our family therapist the first week. Communication from the professional staff was excellent. The Executive Director met with us for 2 hours on our first visit just to answer questions and help us understand what to expect - it really helped our trust for the staff. Maybe the summer time is just better, but I thought the exercise and recreation program was adequate, in my opinion. They go to the Bountiful rec center every week, horse riding/horse therapy on Fridays, jogging on the Legacy jogging trail near the facility, and much more. My daughter had braces, and coordinating visits to the orthadontist was managed by the head nurse, Debbie, who communicated well and we had no problems. Overall, I just can't express enough gratitue for such a wonderful program. Call and talk with their addmissions counselors, make a visit, talke to other parents there, and see for yourself.

I graduated from Life Line in 2006. I was placed in Life Line for over 2 years, never had done drugs at all and am drug free to this day. From everything I have been able to find about the KIDS program, the comments made about this being modeled after Kids Centers of America are absolutely correct. This was brainwashing and looking back on it now, even my parents agree. Do not let them fool you. They will recommend that EVERY child they see requires this level of intensive treatment. They do not allow parents to communicate with their children or for children to accurately describe their experiences in the program without being confronted for manipulation. Children are pushed to giving the facility excellent reviews to reassure parents who are considering placing their children in Life Line. The majority of the staff have no degree what so ever, they are only former graduates of the program. Children are in charge of children and the only individual interaction with clinical staff was when the parents were present. They use sleep deprivation, isolation and psychological abuse. Not a single person I was in treatment with remained sober unless they were sober before. Speaking with families of recent graduates, the program has only gotten worse. If you love your children, do not send them here. It ruins lives.

As a graduate of Lifeline over seven years ago, I can't express enough gratitude and love for all the staff, families, and other clients who helped me through my treatment process. Not only have I remained sober since 2003, LifeLine helped me get back on track in my schooling as well develope traits that have helped in my now professional career as well as my family life. I feel very sorry for the people who have posted such anger and hatred towards such a great program. They obviously did not benefit from the amazing ways this program works like I, or many other families I personally know have. Past clients will always have personal feelings of animosity towards something they had no control over, and certain parents will continue to be manipulated by their children into believing anything and everything (ex: Scott). This program is a family program. Although not every single troubled youth will straighten his or her life, LifeLine can surely give the best help a teenager needs in order to see hope. It doesn't take a clinician or doctor to see that. LifeLine's track record speaks for itself.
