My son finds difficulty in giving attention to studies or any other work and usually becomes hyper-active. Is he suffering from some mental disorder? Please suggest some program from where he can acknowledge some mental exercises or therapies that helps him to develop attentiveness and reduce hyperactive attitude.

Your son may be suffering from ADHD. Hypersensitivity and in attentiveness are the most common symptoms of ADHD. There are various special schools that provide special education as well as exercises and therapies. Talk therapy helps both adults and children with ADHD. Individual talk therapy will help him to deal with emotions of low self-esteem, the feelings of embarrassment and shame he may have experienced as a child and teenager. Behavior therapy involves strengthening preferred behaviors through rewards and praise and decreasing negative behaviors by setting up some limits. As parents, you should customize a program for the child with the help of behavioral specialist. Social skills therapy is also very necessary for the child with ADHD. This therapy is conducted in a group setting, social skill training is given by a therapist. This training teaches children to deal with others’ reactions and how to behave more acceptably.
