I have visited one of my college friends home yesterday. She is married now and has a kid of two years. My friend and her husband are good looking but I was shocked to see that kid. He has almond shape round shape, malformed ears and very short stature as per his age. My friend told me her baby have a disorder deletion syndrome. I want to know what the causes of this syndrome are. What are different categories of deletion syndrome? Is there any specialized treatment available for this syndrome that I can suggest to my friend?

Deletion syndrome is a disorder which is caused by the deletion of a tiny piece of chromosome. Teen who is suffering from deletion syndrome have to face mental illness problems such as: chizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. It is basically of two types such as Velocardiofacial syndrome which also named as Cayler Anomaly Face Syndrome and other one is DiGeorge syndrome which also called as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. There are lots of therapies such as IVIG, interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, which are available at reasonable price. These therapies are helpful to get rid of deletion syndrome problems.

Deletion syndrome generally caused when a piece of genetic material is missing from chromosome 22.
There are two categories of deletion syndrome one is velo-cardio-facial and other one is DiGeorge syndrome, Shprintzen syndrome, Strong syndrome, congenital thymic aplasia, conotruncal anomaly face syndrome and thymic hypoplasia.
There are no specific genetic treatments available for deletion syndrome but certain individual features can be treated using standard treatments such as thymus transplantation, cardiac surgery, antibiotics and many more.

Deletion of small unit of chromosome 22 causes deletion syndrome. In most of the cases it has been observed that there is no genetic cause behind DS. DiGeorge syndrome, velocardiofacial syndrome, and conotruncal anomaly face syndrome are different categories of deletion syndrome. These categories are named by doctors on the basis of signs and symptoms related to them. Yet scientists have not discovered any specific treatment for this disease. Infected teens are offered varieties of surgery and medications depending on the type of DS they are diagnosed with.

Causes of Deletion syndrome:
- Deletion of a small part of chromosome 22; at a location designated q11.2.
- Deletion of genetic material from a particular region in the short (p) arm of chromosome-1.
- Micro-deletion of chromosomal genetic material at the location q13.3. etc.
Categories of Deletion Syndrome: 22q11.2 Deletion syndrome, 1p36 Deletion syndrome
, 22q13 Deletion syndrome, chromosome 18 Deletion syndrome, chromosome 6 Deletion syndrome, terminal 22q Deletion syndrome
Treatment of Deletion syndrome: Antribiotics, vitamin & mineral supplements, calcitriol( vitamin D metaboliser). Thymus transplantation is also recommended in some cases.
