I have adopted a child named Jaime. But he is facing difficulty in adjusting with my other familly members. He think no one cares for him except me. What should I do?

Yes, it is difficult for any one to adjust in a new environment but you don’t worry after some time, your child will feel comfortable with all the family members. Consult with other family members and try to create an environment in home that is quite familiar to the child. Talk to the kid in order to find out his liking or dis-likings and try to do something that makes him happy. Explain him the family-rules and importance of him to all family members. Give him certain choices and don’t keep him under pressure. Cooperation and patience is required in order to get satisfying results.

You should send your adopted child in residential treatment center. These centers provide home like environment along with effective treatment programs. Through which teens never feel that they are staying away from their home. In these centers different children come from different environment but here they treat friendly with each others and try to adjust in that environment. These centers could help you.

Spend some time with your child and try to make him understand that whatever he is thinking of other members is not all true and he should try to adjust with others. Take him to some of the recreational programs or trips with other family members and when he will mingle with others in these programs then he will understand others also. He will take some time to adjust with others but after attending these programs there is a chance that he will understand and love others also.

It is better that you and your family member spend some time with him and try to remove such type of problem. This problem later can cause many problem like anxiety, depression etc. You can also go for professional help. Various counseling centers and mental health care centers offer therapies and counseling by the licensed and experienced counselors and psychologists. Counseling and psychotherapies can be an effective and lasting way to overcome his emotional pain and relational problems.

Take him to some of the trips or recreational programs with all your family members. There he will get chance to understand them deeply as he will get enough time to spend with them. Various activities which he will perform with other family members will change his behavior soon and he will love all of them equally. So do not spend so much time in thinking and immediately take him to some of the entertainment programs.

It has been seen that adopted teens mostly have psychology such type of psychology. Actually these children go through unresolved grief of loosing their birth parent. This force them feel unhappy and distressed. So such type of situations is created. You must try to talk to him about the issue. Let him feel relaxed. He might take some time to adjust in the new atmosphere. If needed, you can also ask help from some counselor o psychologist.

Ans. It is difficult for the adoptee to easily adjust with every member in new family. You need to give some time to them and should try to organize some interesting activities at home in which all members are able to participate and interact and enjoy with each other. You can also make conversation with members of your family to corporate with adoptee so that he can able to make relationship with all family members.
