Teens Dating Violence
Teens dating violence is referred as abusive teen relationship. It is becoming very popular and prevalent amongst teens. Teen dating violence can be performed physically, sexually or orally. This kind of act is mostly performed by teens in order to dominate others. Teens use abusive words and behaviors to control their partner. Sometimes this abusive acts result in complete mental and physical harassment that can cause life threatening effects.
Warning Signs of Dating Violence Victim:
There are numbers of signs and symptoms that can help parents to detect if their kids are involved in an abusive relation or they are victim of teen dating violent. Some of these warning signs are discussed below
- Out of control behavior
- Jealous
- Sexual Pressure
- Insulting their partner in front of others
- Physical violence
- Intake of drugs and alcohol
- Unexplained injuries
Help for the Victims:
Teens facing dating violence must discuss their problems with some trusted adults like parents, family members, teachers or relatives. These are experienced people who will help victims to overcome the problem. Taking help from a psychologist is also a good option. These people have experience of working with such victims and can help in better way to deal with the situation. Teens being abused must never feel guilty as this feeling can lower their will power causing several destructions in life. It may also result in depression or frustration.
Parenting an Abused Teen:
Parents of abused children must always try to tell their kids that whatever had happened is not because of them. They are not guilty and must not have to feel shame in front others. Parents must try to avoid repeated discussion on the topic as this will not allow victim to recover from the painful and terrible memories of the past. They can also ask help from some trusted sources like troubled teen schools, counselors, doctors and police.
