What is Adoption?
Those teens who don’t have their birth parents or the children born because of unplanned pregnancy, are placed for adoption. Birth parents are the one who place their child for adoption and the parents planning to adopt such child are known as adoptive parents. For adoption purpose both the parents have to follow some adoption laws. Both the adoptive family as well as adopted teen has to face various challenges after adoption. For example, it is very difficult for the parents to answer different questions of kids related to the adoption like from where they came, who are their birth parents, what was the reason of their adoption and etc.
Tips for parenting an adopted child
Professionals suggest some important tips to deal with an adopted child. Some of these strategies are as follow
- Give them sufficient time
- Give them space
- Assume that they are younger than actually were
- Implement consequences for their actions
- Try to give simple and straightforward answers to their questions related to adoption
Different Adoption laws
There are different laws that both birth parents and adoptive parents of child has to follow in adoption process
- Consent to adoption
- Infant Safe haven law
- Agreements between birth and adaptive families
- Federal laws like Foster Care Independent Act, Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act and etc.
Types of Adoption

Ways of Adoption
Private - In a private way, children are directly placed in some adoption homes by birth parents.
Public - Under this program, kids are placed in non relative homes by some welfare agencies working for teenage adoption programs.
Stepparent - In this program, kids are adopted by the partner of one birth parent.
International - Children of one country can be adopted by the persons of another country.
