Cyber Bullying
We all are aware of school bullying problem but cyber bullying is a new form of bullying which is becoming very popular amongst teens. Teens committing cyber bullying has less fear of getting caught. Internet has become an easy platform for teens to insult, humiliate, taunt and abuse their victims. Bullies sometimes use adult material like adult pictures, quotes or texts to humiliate others. Cyber bullying is growing rapidly with time. It has number of life threatening difficulties like it can cause a victim to commit suicide. Teens are very conscious about their image and if they feel that their image is destroyed, they can decide to commit suicide.
Helpful Tips for a Cyber Bullying Victim:
- Encourage the victim to take action against cyber bullies
- Ask him to discuss his problem with some trusted adult like parents or teachers
- Ask help from police
- Keep the screen shot of bullying material (picture, text etc.) as a proof of crime.
- If bullying has affected mental, emotional or psychological behavior of the victim, it is helpful to choose a teen treatment center for healing.
Treatment of Cyber Bullies:
Treatment of the criminal has same importance as that of victim. Teens having bullying nature have some kind of behavioral or mental illness. It has been found from analysis that feeling of inferiority mostly generates this kind of behavior. In order to show their supremacy over others, bullies use taunting and humiliating acts. Treatment programs that healing centers offer to cyber bullies include bullying prevention program, counseling program, psychotherapy, medication, 24 hour professional supervision and many more.
Parenting a Cyber Bullies:
There are number of warning signs that help to detect bullying nature of children like excess use of internet, searching adult sites, using adult text messages and etc. Parents must be careful while allowing their kids for using internet. If they have doubt that their kids are indulge in cyber bullying must talk to them immediately and directly. Parents must ask help from some well known and highly qualified professionals. These people have long term experience of working with such children and can offer effective help to the bullies.
