Anorexia among Adults
What is anorexia?
It is a type of eating disorder and also known as anorexia nervosa. People suffering from this disease have extreme fear of gaining body weight and are very conscious about their body shape and size. In order to maintain their physic these people minimizes their food intake. Sometime anorexia can also be related to binge eating. It is another type of behavior that the teens suffering from the mentioned problem show. Binge eating means excess intake of food but in secrete manner. The teens facing eating disorder can also have to face several different difficulties like obesity problem, stress, anexiety, heart problem and etc.
Causes of Anorexia
There several biological, environmental and family causes behind the disease. Some of these are as listed below
- biological factors (obstetric complications, genetic reasons, epigenetic reasons and etc)
- environmental factors (modern lifestyle, socio-economic standard)
- family and social factors (stress live events, participation in modeling or gymnastics)
Symptoms of Anorexia
Some important characteristic that the teenager facing anorexia shows are
- dieting
- pretending to eat
- excessive exercise
- throwing up after eating
- consciousness about body shape and size
Effects and treatment of Anorexia
Anorexia can have severe effects of troubling person health. Excess weight loss may increase medical complications. Some effects of anorexia on the struggling person’s health are

- lack of energy
- dry yellow skin
- constipation and abdominal pain
Treatment for the disease has three successive stages
- health restoration
- treatment of additional diseases
- eliminating behavior that causes unhealthy eating habits
